Gleix Video Synth // Commission Request Form

Updated: 7/15/2021

Hey there!

Thanks for your interest! I’ve just recently finished some major revisions to the core of this build. Moving forward I will no longer be offering total granularity when it comes to feature offerings like I have in the past, and instead will be offering a base model with the option of adding 1. Enclosure customization and 2. A patch panel (or mini monitor instead).

The decision to standardize came from a combination of factors - including demand (being unable to keep up with the wait list) and wanting to better integrate features for the sake of stability. This build no longer deals with hand wired circuits and instead all major features have been integrated into PCBs. All controls are also now PCB mounted and slot directly into a silkscreen printed front panel.

GVS010 is the first build utilizing this new design - please check out the page for it here to learn more (includes demo videos). I’d also suggest checking out the videos for The IFD which goes in depth into many of the main features, GVS008 which does some more exploration processing external signals, this video exploring the use of this sort of device with a video mixer, and the two extended demo videos at the bottom of this page.

Here are the currently available options

Base Model (blue)

I/O Panel

  • 12v power jack (2.1mm, center positive)

  • Composite video output

  • Composite video input

  • Selection switch (internal feedback loop VS external composite video input)

  • VGA video output

  • 1/8” audio input

  • 1/4” audio input

General features

  • On/off switch

  • NTSC/PAL selection switch

  • Image direction controls (up/down/left/right/zoom in & out)

  • Menu buttons for adjusting parameters (brightness/contrast/saturation/hue, etc…)

  • RGB mix knobs

  • RGB pulse buttons

  • Image freeze button

  • Image freeze switch

Oscillator

  • On/off switch

  • Speed range selection switch (low range = LFO, color flashes / high range = oscillator, scanlines)

  • Rate, shape, depth knobs

  • Send switches for red, green, blue

  • Send switch for image freeze (at slow oscillator speeds this will freeze the image in time with the oscillator, at high speeds this will act like a slit-scan effect)

Audio / Amp / Noise Generator

  • Internal audio amplifier on/off switch

    • Audio input will bypass amplifier and go directly to RGB sends if amplifier is off

    • Audio amp can generate noise if no audio is being sent to the device

  • RGB send knobs

CV

  • CV inputs for red, green, blue color channels

  • CV inputs for image direction up, down, left, right, zoom in/out

    • Directional CV inputs have bypass switches to easily kill the movement input

Add-ons (green)

Enclosure customization

Patch Panel

  • 24 point patchbay for cross-patching to achieve glitches, receiving external signals, routing audio out of the machine

  • 4x switches routed to 2x patch points each. For easily routing patch points to switches & turning connections on and off.

OR

Magnetically attachable mini monitor w/ power & video hookups

Please use the following form to request a quote.

Lead time will vary depending on the complexity of your specific build, current queue, and current workload. Please note that all enclosure customization & add-ons will incur additional costs.

 Frequently asked questions

Q: Do you have any lying around I can purchase?

A: No - these are made to order.

Q: Can I change the menu items like hue and saturation without opening the menu?

A: No, these processes are happening within the firmware of a digital video encoder - they are not accessible as analog signals.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: Yes

Q: How much is shipping?

A: For standard sized builds I typically estimate $35-45 domestic, $65 international.

Q: How is the device shipped?

A: For the continental U.S. I typically use UPS. For international orders I use USPS. All orders come heavily packaged for safety.

Q: What colors are available?

A: For basic paint jobs/spray paint - most colors as long as I can find them. For the swirl/marbling paint - Black, red, pink, green, light blue, dark blue, yellow, orange, turquoise, violet.
